Dr. Funk: We've added many great songs from San Francisco pianist Vince Guaraldi (referred in jazz circles as "Dr. Funk") to our station "West Coast Jazz Radio". Vince was best known for composing music used in the Peanuts cartoons, most notably, his 1964 hit "Linus and Lucy." But just as Vince was enjoying his success - he reported feeling ill. Doctors misdiagnosed what turned out to be serious heart problems, telling Vince he had ulcers. That wrong diagnosis cost him his life. Vince fell to the floor in his hotel room while taking a break during a live show in 1976, suffering a heart attack and dying in hospital at just 47 years old.
